CERAMIC DENTAL INLAYS & ONLAYS
Ceramic inlays and onlays are made from a durable, ceramic material which closely matches the color of your natural teeth and produces a very attractive smile. They can also be a good alternative to a crown.
ADVANTAGES OF ALL CERAMIC INLAYS AND ONLAYS
Amalgam Filling Replacement Many patients choose ceramic inlays and/or onlays as a replacement for their unattractive amalgam fillings.
Consistent Color Inlays and onlays stay a consistent color over time.
Easy to Clean Your normal daily brushing routine is all it takes to keep ceramic inlays and onlays bright and shiny.
Extra Support Your natural teeth gain extra structural support from the inlays and onlays.
DISADVANTAGES OF ALL CERAMIC INLAYS AND ONLAYS
Risk of Fracture Ceramic is strong and durable but because it is a rigid material it is at increased risk of a fracture when biting on hard food or ice.
HOW ARE ALL CERAMIC INLAYS AND ONLAYS FITTED?
Dr. Harding will explain the procedure to you and will discuss the various types of materials used in inlays and onlays. These can include gold, ceramic and composite resin.
Dr. Harding and his team will then take an imprint of your tooth which will be used to create the inlay or onlay that is fabricated at a dental laboratory.
A temporary inlay or onlay will be created and fitted before you leave the office. On your second visit your temporary is removed and replaced with your new inlay or onlay from the lab. A quick curing cement is used to secure your inlay or onlay in place and then given a final polish
