Snap-on Dentures in Alamosa, CO

At Harding Dental Group, if you are missing all your teeth due to a dental condition or injury, consider snap-on dentures as a replacement. Snap-on dentures are more stable and versatile than traditional dentures, which can fall out of position.

Snap-on dentures are held in place by dental implants or screws put in your jawbone. Typically, two to four implants are placed in each jaw. But depending on the need and your budget, up to ten implants may need to be placed. Once the implants have been placed in your jaw, an implant-retained or implant-supported denture can be fitted. Depending on how the overdenture and implants are made, the overdenture may be put in place permanently or detachable for cleaning.

How Do Snap-on Dentures Work?

Unlike standard dentures, snap-on dentures are held in place by orthodontic implants. These implants are posts surgically implanted into the jaw at particular locations to support dentures that are "snapped" into place.

The implanted posts are not detachable, but the snap-on dentures are. A snap-on denture typically requires at least two to four implants to stay in place. When you press down on the prosthesis, it clips into place on the implant abutments.

The implants prevent dentures from shifting or moving, eliminating the need for sticky adhesives or pastes. The orthodontic implants are sometimes accompanied by a metal plate that runs along the gum line. To stay in place, the dentures magnetically bond to that metal plate. In other situations, magnetic connecting points are placed to the implants, which are then used to link with the dentures.

The Advantages of Snap-on Dentures

Increased Stability

Because snap-on dentures are held in place by implants, they are less prone to move or shift when you eat or speak. This can boost your confidence and allow you to eat and speak normally.

Better Oral Hygiene

Snap-on dentures make brushing and flossing your natural teeth and gums easier, improving oral hygiene and lowering the risk of gum disease and tooth decay.

Greater Comfort

Because they do not rely on suction or adhesives to stay in place, snap-on dentures are often more comfortable to wear than traditional dentures. This makes them a viable option for folks who struggle with regular dentures or have sensitive gums.
